Fusion Academy Art and Music Programs
Creative Expression

Creative expression is at the forefront of Fusion Academy's programs.

Our students flourish in a creative environment, and often “find themselves” when exploring the various means of artistic self-expression. In a popular culture riddled with emphasis on external appearances and judgment, Fusion prides itself on making sure that our students are able to look beyond what the eye alone can see. We firmly believe, as Aristotle stated, that “the aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.”

At Fusion, our students are free to explore a variety of media and materials as they work their way through our art program. Led by Mary Piazza Easton, Art Program Director, students are encouraged to express themselves and learn the fundamentals of art in all its aspects.

"An artist cannot fail; it is a success to be one."
Charles Horton Cooley
Studio Art

This course meets the state standards and requirements for high school visual/ performing arts. Within this class, students will understand the foundation for art appreciation and production skills through hands-on projects and narrative lessons. Students will participate in and are exposed to the elements and principles of art technique, art history, and art criticism.

For more information about our art classes, please contact Mary Piazza Easton at Fusion!

Fusion Music Department

Here at Fusion, we believe that music and art are integral to the development of the whole child. While other schools and districts are slashing their funds for the arts, Fusion consistently pours our resources into our remarkable music department.

The statistics in favor of musical education are vast, and we have seen firsthand what music education can do for a child. We have witnessed music turn an at-risk student into an achiever. We have seen a child’s self-esteem grow when feelings are allowed to flow through an instrument.

We have seen depression and anxiety disappear in a student who was given a guitar. For these reasons, Fusion prides itself on our music department and recording studio. Fusion offers the following subjects for both private lessons and courses for credit:

Guitar Recording Arts Music Theory and Composition
Bass Voice Jazz Performance
Drums Piano Performing Arts (Band)

Courses are taught from the beginner to the advanced-performer level.

Fusion’s philosophy for music education is performance based: While theory and technique are stressed on a daily basis, we believe that all students want to learn to PLAY, and they want to learn to play NOW! Fusion honors the musical tastes of each student, and individualizes the lessons and classes to reflect the unique talents of each learner. Private lessons are one hour, and courses for high school credit meet all state standards.

Fusion Band

Fusion also has a performance-based band consisting of guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and recording. Fusion Band meets weekly for rehearsals, and plays a variety of music from jazz to rock, R&B to the blues. Fusion Band is taken very seriously by our students, and a professional-grade CD is the culmination of their efforts, celebrated by a CD release party annually!

Auditions are held throughout the year. Call Nicholas Angelo, Music Department Director, at 858-792-2300 to find out more information.

Professional Recording Studio
Fusion takes music so seriously that we have invested in a full professional recording studio, complete with high-quality microphones and instruments, as well as professional-grade software required to record and create a quality CD. Students enrolled in Recording Arts are educated in the use of the latest technology pertaining to the recording world. They learn the use of industry-standard computer software as well as professional recording, editing, and mixing techniques. There is also a full MIDI lab with software for film scoring and other audio use.

Fusion’s Recording Studio is so state-of-the-art that it is also available for local bands to hire for demo-CD creations and professional recording advice. Fusion opens at night and on weekends to accommodate local bands' needs. The cost varies depending on the project. Again, contact Nicholas at Fusion to learn more.

Instructors

All Fusion music instructors are professional musicians. Each has played in various projects all over the country. They have extensive educational training, as well first-hand, real-world experience. Fusion wants only the best for your children, and we believe that music makes all of us better people and more in harmony with the world around us. We value the self-expression and academic improvement that a music education can provide, and are dedicated to maintaining the highest-quality musical experiences available. Rock on!

"I have been very happy with the work and progress that my two children have made at Fusion Learning Center. They have been tutored well, and made great strides with their music. A very good experience. Look forward to a repeat next year. Thank you."

—Burt Bacharach, internationally acclaimed composer
