About the Founder

Michelle Rose Gilman

Fusion Learning Center started out in 1989 in Encinitas, California, in the garage office of Michelle Rose Gilman's home.

In the beginning, Michelle worked with six students with severe emotional problems who were transitioning out of psychiatric hospitals. From these humble beginnings,

Fusion has grown by adding 27 teachers; an administrative department; a complete, professional recording studio; an art department; a full-time private school; an addiction specialty division; and our popular Homework Café™. We now enroll over 450 students.

Michelle has a BS in Special Education from the University of South Florida, and holds certification in Special Education with a concentration on emotional handicaps K-12. She spent 17 years teaching emotionally disturbed and learning disabled students, coordinated a special-education treatment center, and created social-skills training and self-esteem workshops for children of all ages.

Michelle is the author of ten books geared toward students and their parents: Your Child's Self-Esteem: A Parent's Guide, Hamburger Writing, ACT for Dummies 4th Edition, Pre-Calculus for Dummies, Pre-Calculus Workbook for Dummies, AP Biology for Dummies, Chemistry Workbook for Dummies, AP Chemistry for Dummies, and the upcoming GRE for Dummies 6th Edition.

Michelle's warmth and compassion permeate every program at Fusion, and are at the pulse of every relationship created here.
